Being Japanese it is easy for me to read about Kendo, as there are many books on this subject available in my home country. 'Looking at a far Mountain', or 'Enzan No metsuke' Is the first book in English to study the aspects of Kata in depth. I first discovered it back in 1992 at its first publication. I found it to be extremely informative historically and clear in the technical explanation. The format is unusual, each section following the photographic layout.i.e. Uchidachi and Shidachi and I must say that I really appreciate the endeavours of the author. I am positive that this book, now available in paperback will inform and assist many practitioners of Kendo everywhere Signed: M Itoh.

A Must-Have for Kenshi

This book is the perfect companion for anyone interested in Kendo, and more specifically, the kata associated with it. Kata seems to be one of the least written about aspects of Kendo, and by purchasing this book, one is able to improve their kata quite a bit. A must have for Kenshi!

If you want better information you need to go to Japan

This book contains detailed information on the kendo katas. It has all the notes one would like to have on how to perform each one. With this I do not need to worry about taking notes after classes and I can focus on performance. I especially like the shidachi and the uchidachi shown in opposing pages, so one can view the complete sequence at a glance. It also have interesting historical information with pictures. This book is a "must have" to practice far from Japan.

Absolutely no effort was put into this book. It's a copy paste of the previous book on DirectX 11. In several chapters, the author didn't event bother changing "Direct3D 11" to "Direct3D 12", so it creates a very confusing mess.

Good, but missing some things

I haven't read the entire thing but so far it's pretty good.

But just so people know, the chapters on terrain rendering and particle systems that were in the d3d11 book are gone.
And the book doesn't teach you "how to take advantage of multiple cores." as it states on the back, the book directs you to look at microsoft samples.

One cool thing though is the lighting model you implement is a bit more advanced than the one in the d3d11 book.

Currently using this as a study guide. This is my 3rd time through Romans with a study group. I don't agree with all the analysis and some of the layout but this is a very thoughtful guide and worth consideration if you are considering a Romans study.

The event and convention industry is a $100 billion industry and currently employs 1.5 million people. This has precipitated the increase in the popularity of studies of event management. For those who are looking for an exciting career, where their organizational skills and attention to detail along with their creativity can be fully utilized, this is an industry that is attracting many of the country's brightest students.

As an author who has written about the hospitality and event industry for the past decade, it has been my privilege to be able to compile this text. I have many people to thank. First and foremost I would like to thank Lynn Van Der Wagen. It has been a rewarding experience to adapt her original text, which was published in Australia. Easy to read and understand. Started one chapter one night and read through to the end of the book it was that interesting. Also, learned alot of things I did not know that I incorporated into a planning session for our event. Thank you!

The book is okay. I feel that some grammar ...

The book is okay. I feel that some grammar explanations are unclear. The writer's word choice and organization of chapters made the text too difficult to understand at times. Re-reading chapters doesn't even help. Many of my peers, including myself, had to rely on our professor to reconstruct definitions and create her own activities.

One of the only textbooks for a class in 3 years that has actually taught me something. We go through everything in this book. It is VERY helpful for learning English Grammar and makes understanding it really simple with many exercises.

I also read Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In and while I am not in the corporate sector both of these women's books resonated with me because they talk about empowering women in the workplace. Whether we are entrepreneurs or in the corporate world, more women are headed to the top. I love this book because it shows that more women are rising to the top in all industries. Fancy's ability to speak to the modern career woman is not about whether you work in a 9-5 but standing up for what you believe in and finding your voice in any situation.
