Daughter loves this, and it makes me wonder if the left-over cheddar in the fridge is still okay to eat if I cut off the mold?

I don't know what this book is about, but my kid does. I can tell it's a 5-star book because she's been sitting on the couch reading it non-stop since it arrived from Amazon, and she won't take a break for lunch. My participation in the Thea Stilton phenomenon includes:

a)learning all the character names and pretending I have a order of my favorites from best to least (sorry, Violet, you're at the back of the pack. I have to pick Nikki as my favorite because that's my daughter's favorite!)
b)drawing Nikki with my daughter, over and over again (I'm pretty dang good by now, I admit)
c)agreeing with my child that the thick, shiny white paper smells really nice (it kind of does) and that the highlighted words are cool (they are)
d)wondering if that left-over Cheddar in the fridge is still any good, and if it's okay to cut off a moldy piece and eat the rest, as long as I leave a half-inch gap between good and mold.

Anyway, thanks to Thea Stilton for writing such fun kid books that help increase a child's vocabulary! I'm glad I don't have to read your books out loud!

I LIKED THIS BOOK. BECAUSE IT WAS A CLEVER STORY. I ALSO LIKED IT BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME HOW THEY SOLVED THE MYSTERY.I think this was the best Thea Stilton BOOK so far.
I WOULD GIVE THIS STORY 5 stars.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO MYSTERY LOVERS. THIS BOOK IS A BIG MYSTERY.

Missed Opportunities and Lacking in Historical Accuracy

I am a fan of most of the Thea Stilton stories, and my seven-year-old daughter loves them. I especially appreciate that the series takes the reader to far away lands and typically manages to teach both children and adults a few thing about distant cultures and history.

This particular volume, however, misses the boat. The story takes place in modern Russia. But for reasons not clear, it treats the Russian nobility as having survived the 1917 revolution and communist era without having lost any of their former wealth and status. Moreover, it misses a great opportunity teach that the Russian language is written in the Cyrillic alphabet, rather than the Latin alphabet that we are familiar with in the West. Instead, we have the sisters reading letters written in Russian, without any reference to the different languages. Perhaps I ask for too much in a book about mice. But this volume is a cut below the others.

Sweet, funny, endearing, romantic and even whimsical at times, oh and Santa Claus too!

This is the first book I have read of Lyn Gardner. I was feeling a little bah humbug and saw this little treasure in my search for some new reading.

I was pleasantly surprised, the story is at times funny, witty, charming and doesn't shy on the sexy times :)

I read it in one go and I would recommend it if you want to smile and feel warm and fuzzy.

I enjoyed the story so much I am about to start another of Lyn's books, ICE.

Heartwarming & Adorable

This might be the most adorable story ever written. When I came across the book on amazon & read the description, it's one of the few I didn't even think about before clicking the one-click buying option. I was stretched out across my bed after my evening shower, thinking about Christmas being only a week away and wondering about the future. I started reading & didn't stop until "the end" came into view. I looked at the clock to see it was almost 1:30 in the morning & I had no idea where the time went as I was lost in a world of love, laughter & Christmas magic, and as the story intended, I thought, sometimes you just have to believe. I'm keeping this one, as I plan to read it again each year to remind myself just that, believe. Sometimes us adults need to be reminded to slow down & remember what it's all about and this is just the story to do it.

Did I mention the humor? Oh the sneezing scene had me laughing so hard I had to put the kindle down to wipe my eyes so I could continue. Then I would read the next line & have to do it again...and again...and again. I seriously didn't think I was going to get through that part. Simply hilarious.

I couldn't help but wonder if the fact I've caught a cold a week before Christmas, am running a fever and can't breathe might have played into how I reacted to this book, but I think not. It's an endearing & romantic story with a necessary message of love, giving & acceptance & I can't think of anything better at this time of year. It doesn't hurt that it contains some steamy sexiness here & there either, although that's not helping my current body temperature. Lol. Download & enjoy.

This was a much anticipated Christmas read for me and it sure didn’t disappoint. What I didn’t expect though is the whimsical

I’ve read both Ice and Give Me A Reason by Lyn Gardner, so I had an idea of what to expect before I picked up Mistletoe. This was a much anticipated Christmas read for me and it sure didn’t disappoint. What I didn’t expect though is the whimsical, light-hearted humor that I found within its pages. Gardner has an intense style of writing, and she portrays her characters’ personalities to be very bold and passionate. The characters in this story were quite a bit softer (marshmallows, in comparison to Toni from Give Me A Reason and Alex from Ice) but they fit the tone of a Christmas story. Christmas stories shouldn’t be too heavy. The holidays are stressful enough with all the shopping, and the weird relatives visiting, and the god awful traffic. Right?!

What I’ve grown to appreciate with the author’s pairings in her novels, is that one of the two is always gender-ambiguous. You never really know exactly where they fit on the feminine/masculine scale. We all have our own preferences when it comes to the type of books we read and the types of characters we identify with and gravitate toward, just as we have our own preferences on who we choose as our lovers. By being gender-ambiguous, the books appeal to a larger audience of readers. The novels feel more inclusive and welcoming to readers across the gender and sexuality spectrum, so it is more about the story than it is about our own pre-conceived notions and expectations based on societal norms.

This story isn’t just about finding your soulmate or two women falling in love. It’s about the magic of Christmas, and how love touches our lives and brings us together as a beautiful tapestry. The author covers all the Holiday bases: love, happiness, cheer, family, miracles, and the joy of giving.

Now, if only Santa can find my letter in the lining of the sack too….

A sadder Reid

Passion is the risk that Joanna must take - if she's to save her marriage...
I was hooked after the first 6 pages. The tension between the couple over the phone was amazing. I couldn't wait to read what would happen when they were face-to-face.
This is definitely a darker Reid, which is probably why I would not say it is one of my favorites. Still, it has all the amazing tension and chemistry that I love in Reid's novels, so I had to give it the full 5 stars.

Sensitive subject matter, not treated with the respect it deserved

While the writing was excellent, I had a hard time with the story itself. I felt that the way Sandro placed all of the blame for their failed marriage at Joanna's feet, even after he knew what she had been through, was reprehensible. There was no understanding, no patience, and no promise that he would be there for her no matter what happened. Instead, there were recriminations and ultimatums. She destroyed his belief in himself by pushing him away. She insulted him by believing he valued her virginity more than his love for her. She should just get over it already, and move on with her life--three years is "more than enough time" to spend wallowing in the past. If she doesn't sleep with him, he may just consider her a lost cause...

Truly, I kept waiting for him to get a clue, and he just never did--which for me completely negated all of the truly loving and thoughtful things that he DID do throughout the book. I think that's what upsets me most of all; that for once we were given a Harlequin "hero" who wasn't afraid of his feelings for the heroine, who loved her unquestionably and wasn't afraid to show it...and then the author went and ruined it all by making him a selfish piece of crud who cared more about his own hurt feelings and bruised machismo than the fact that his wife had been violated and traumatized. No, on second thought, what upsets me most of all is the way that rape is portrayed as something that can and should be "gotten over" through bullying and coercion, and that the trauma resulting from it can be "cured" by a couple of rounds of hot sex.

In the end, I gave this three stars. The writing, as I said at the beginning, was excellent, the story was well-plotted and made sense, and the portrayal of a traumatized rape victim was pretty spot-on. However, this kind of subject matter needs to be treated with a little bit more respect than Ms. Reid showed, and the typical Harlequin 2-page wrap-up was just not sufficient.

H is for horrible hero

I hated the hero in this book. Whatever wounds to his manhood I felt no sympathy because he was selfish uncompassionate whiny tantrum throwing brute. He never expressed care, understanding, empathy, sympathy or anything for the heroine who was raped a week before their wedding. Hated this story so not romantic.
