Another Dukes of War Hit!

Sarah Fairfax’s heart & soul died the day her fianc� was killed on the battlefield at Waterloo. Until she learned their one night together left her with child – then a small piece of her bloomed knowing she would have a little piece of Edmund always with her. The only problem – she was unmarried and with child = social ruin. Until the day Phillip, the Duke of Ravenwood (one of Edmund’s best friends) offers to marry Sarah to provide a future for her & her child. A mere weeks from delivery, Sarah agrees to marry Phillip for the sake of her unborn child. The day of the wedding will change Sarah’s life in ways she never expected.
Edmund Blackpool’s last thought was he was going to die without having married the love of his life. When he wakes up in a Flemish convent his constant thought is Sarah. Those thoughts push Edmund to heal so he can go home. Imagine his surprise when he arrives back in England to find Sarah is about to marry one of his best friends.
What follows is wonderful tale of how two people try to make their way back to each other. You’ll cry for everything Edmund went through, admire Sarah’s strength when it comes to her baby, all the while wanting to smack their heads together so they’ll communicate. Although written with emotion, Erica Ridley throws in lots of humor (the baby scenes are particularly funny).
A series book that can be read as a stand-alone but don’t deny yourself the pleasure all of Ms. Ridley’s Dukes of War stories! I’m (im)patiently waiting for the next!!!!

Heartwarming Regency tale of love and family bonds triumphing over fear and horror

The Brigadier's Runaway Bride is the most true-to-life of the books in Erica Ridley's Dukes of War series. A war-scarred veteran still suffering the effects of post-traumatic stress after surviving the battle of Waterloo (not that they had a name for it in the early 1800s) and his very pregnant-at-the-altar bride must make the best of a hasty marriage and the abrupt arrival of twin boys. Sarah and Edmund are strong, honourable individuals bound by the memory of a shared passion but will they find the love, strength and patience to work through his memories and her fears to create a happy future especially when his parents are overhelpful and her parents no help at all. Fortunately there are brothers and friends at hand to help negotiate the murky early days of marriage. Erica Ridley has taken a risk with this book, exploring what happens after the HEA wedding to find out if young love can survive sleepless nights and dirty nappies. She has triumphed with a heartwarming and realistic romance. Anyone who remembers what it was like to be young and in love, trying to raise a new family in somewhat straightened conditions will love this book.

Runaway With This Book

The Duke's Of War continues with another great novel. This is a second chance on love romance. What happens when you believe the father of your child is dead you marry to give your child a name only to have your love appear to stop you from making the worst mistake of your life. You'll have to buy the book to see what happens next and I promise you won't be disappointed. A page turner and a very enjoyable read.
